How I'd Wear It: Crushed Velvet 90s Dress

This is kind of a 70s glam rock meets 90s club kid look and I'm really digging the combination! I rarely put together an outfit without any prints. I actually didn't realize I'd done that until I was editing the photos. So here you go - an inadvertent study in colorblocking!

I found this crushed velvet dress for the shop a while back and for some reason no one has snapped it up yet. It's such a perfect 90s mini! The fuzzy yellow coat was a Christmas gift from Matt. While we were in Stockholm last November, we'd pass a store every day that had it displayed in the window. I fell in love with it, but never went in to try it on. Fast forward to Christmas and I found out that Matt tracked it down online and bought it for me!

How I'd Wear It: Slouchy 80s Sweater

This one was a bit of a stretch for me at first. I don't really wear big slouchy off the shoulder things and I definitely don't usually wear peach. Honestly, I think this made me change my mind about both! I don't know why I thought I couldn't wear peach. I guess it had something to do with my skin tone or my hair, but seeing these pictures made me realize I was wrong. It's actually a pretty good color. And of course I'm always happy to have another color to wear that looks great with teal.

Anyway, I guess the point of all this is that you shouldn't be afraid of big slouchy 80s sweaters, even if they're in colors you thought you couldn't wear! (Plus this one has fun little pom pom things on the front.)

How I'd Wear It: Sheer Kimono Cardigan

Temperatures have finally dropped down into the 70s here in LA! Well, at least for now. I'm going to take full advantage of that and start busting out all my colorful tights. I kept it pretty simple for this How I'd Wear It, using a very limited color palette, but I think the end result is still a lot of fun. This sheer, cropped kimono cardigan is so versatile too. I looks super cute over a simple black dress like this, but it would be just as fantastic with jeans and a white tank top. What do you think? How would you style it?

How I'd Wear It: Seersucker Shirt

I feel like seersucker is such a retro summer staple, but I've never owned anything in my personal collection. I'm not sure why...I guess I've just never found the right piece. This purple example is pretty fantastic, but I'll leave it in the shop for you fine folks.

I decided to base this outfit off of the colors in this awesome belt I found long ago. Honestly, it's a bit too snug on me now to actually comfortably wear, so it's nice that it can at least show its face for a photo shoot! Purple, teal, and yellow seems to be a pretty solid summertime color combo though, so I'll have to keep that in mind when styling my regular outfits!

How I'd Wear It: Triangle Print Mod Dress

This is another dress that I probably shouldn't have tried on, because now that I have, I'm having a hard time leaving it in the shop! I made a pact with myself: if it's still in the shop at the end of summer, I get to keep it. Don't you think it would be just as lovely for fall as it is for spring? Plus I already have tights and a necklace that match it perfectly. I'm going to stop typing now because I feel like I'm just trying to convince myself to pull it out of the shop right away. Hurry and get it before it disappears (into my closet)!
