One of the great things about living in a big city like LA or NYC is the access to amazing museums. Unfortunately, that also makes me take them for granted. When I go on vacation to a big city full of museums, I always make a point of going to as many of them as I can. Trips to Paris or London, for example, are often centered around museum trips. Why do I neglect the museums I have at home so much? Sure, I'll go somewhere from time to time, but it's never at the top of my list of things to do.
That's why I love LA's yearly Museums Free-For-All. There's one Saturday each January where a bunch of museums have free admission, and it's become a tradition for Matt and I to check out a new museum each year. This year we went to the Craft & Folk Art Museum. It was fantastic! Maybe this year's reminder that this city is full of great museums will stick with me more throughout the year. I don't make New Year's resolutions, but if I did, that would be a good one.
