Well, here's my first ever lookbook! I had such a great time making this, that I think I'm going to start doing it every few months in different locations. This one's a mix of items currently available in my Etsy shop, soon to be available in the shop, and pieces from my personal vintage collection. For those who aren't too familiar with film and photography, golden hour is the time just around sunrise and sunset when the lighting is especially even and beautiful. It makes for perfect conditions for capturing flattering images. Anyone who's ever tried to take an outfit photo at noon can tell you that sunlight isn't always your friend! I know I've struggled with the harsh mid-day light on many occasions when I knew I wouldn't be able to take the photos later in the day. Seeing the quality images I got here makes me want to make the extra effort to plan my regular outfit photo shoots when the light is softer.
These were shot at a house up in the hills above Yucca Valley in the High Desert of Southern California. If you love desert landscapes, I would definitely recommend a trip out there. As a bonus, it's right by Joshua Tree National Park!
I also have to give credit where credit is due. These photos were shot by my amazing husband Matt, who is a filmmaker with a not so hidden talent for capturing still images as well. We've already started discussing what we're going to do for the next lookbook shoot, and it just might involve some video!
